Last updated: July 2026 · Applies to: Message Exporter for macOS
The short version: Message Exporter is licensed to you, not sold. Pro is an auto-renewing monthly subscription you can cancel any time through Apple. Your messages stay on your Mac — which also means keeping your own backups, and having the right to export the conversations you export, is your responsibility.
These Terms govern your use of the Message Exporter application and this website, provided by Soft Flourish, operated by Fenul LLC (“we”, “us”). By installing or using the app, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the app.
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to install and use Message Exporter on Macs you own or control, for personal or internal business use. You may not resell, redistribute, reverse-engineer, or attempt to circumvent the app's licensing or plan restrictions, except where such restriction is prohibited by law. Your use is also subject to Apple's standard End User Licence Agreement for App Store applications.
Message Exporter offers a free tier and a paid Pro plan. The free tier includes unlimited browsing, searching, and reading, plus export of the last 3 days of a conversation as plain text and the shared photos, videos, PDFs and files from those same 3 days. Pro unlocks all time ranges, the PDF, HTML, CSV and Excel formats, and full attachment export, as described on the product page.
Pro is an auto-renewing subscription billed at $4.99 per month (or the equivalent in your local currency, shown before purchase). Billing is handled by Apple through the App Store and charged to your Apple Account. It renews automatically at the end of each period unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the period ends.
Purchases are processed by Apple, so refunds are handled by Apple under its own policy — request one at reportaproblem.apple.com. If a refund is granted, the corresponding Pro features stop being available.
You are responsible for the conversations you export and must have the right to do so. Don't use Message Exporter to access messages on a device you do not own or are not authorised to use, to violate someone's privacy or a confidentiality obligation, to harass or surveil another person, or to break applicable law — including laws on recording, retaining, or disclosing communications, which vary by jurisdiction.
Because Message Exporter works locally, we never hold a copy of your messages or exports — so we cannot recover them for you. Keep your own backups of anything important, and check an export before relying on it. The app reads your Messages data and does not modify or delete it, but you remain responsible for your own files.
Some capabilities depend on your Mac and its configuration. Reading messages requires that you grant access to your Messages folder; contact names require Contacts access; and iPhone import requires an encrypted backup stored on that Mac and its password. Where something isn't available, the app will tell you plainly rather than substituting a cloud service.
Message Exporter, its name, icon, and design are owned by us. These Terms don't transfer any of our intellectual property to you. You retain all rights to your own messages and to the files you export.
The app is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind to the fullest extent permitted by law. We don't warrant that it will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that any export will be complete, accurate, or fit for a particular purpose — including any legal or evidentiary purpose. To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability arising out of or relating to the app is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim.
We may update these Terms or the app. Material changes will be reflected here with a new “last updated” date. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated Terms.
You may stop using the app at any time. We may suspend or terminate access if these Terms are breached. Sections that by their nature should survive termination will do so.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, USA, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules, and the courts located in California will have jurisdiction — except where mandatory local consumer law grants you other rights.
