Nature Wonders — User Manual

From your first search to a journal worth keeping. Everything works as a guest; sign in only if you want Pro or sync on more than one device.

An app is not a guide, a ranger or a doctor. Identification is AI-assisted and can be wrong; “Unknown” is a valid answer. Never eat, touch, taste, burn or prepare a plant or mushroom, or give one to a person or pet, because of an app result. For suspected poisoning or a serious reaction, contact local emergency services or poison control now. Place data comes from OpenStreetMap contributors and official sources and can be wrong or out of date: follow signs and closures on site. Conditions change fast; carry the essentials, and turn back when in doubt. Nature Wonders is not a navigation, rescue, medical or foraging authority.

Discover

  • Type a city, postal code, country or park, or allow location for places near you. Choose a radius from 5 to 100 km.
  • Filter for family friendly, dogs allowed, wheelchair access, no fee, drinking water, toilets or Quiet Wonders.
  • Sort by Best, Distance or Quiet. Best weighs your filters, distance, variety, source quality and freshness; official closures always win.
  • Something wrong? Open the place and choose Report: closed, private property, unsafe access, wrong location, or exposes a sensitive site.

Trips

  • Save a place, then plan a trip: date, checklist, and current conditions.
  • iPhone, iPad, Android and Windows with Pro: download the map area before you leave, then follow the route with no signal and get an alert if you go off route. On Windows, recording runs only while the app is open, and accuracy depends on your PC's location hardware.
  • Free accounts keep up to 3 planned trips and 10 saved places.
  • Mac plans trips and exports routes as GPX (Pro); it does not navigate.

Lens

  • Choose what you are looking at: plant, bird, animal, insect or spider, mushroom, rock, track or sign, or landscape. On a phone, tablet or Windows PC you can also record bird song (Pro). On a phone or tablet you can point at the skyline to name peaks (Pro).
  • Add more than one photo, and a close-up of the leaf, flower, cap underside or grain, for a better match.
  • Read the confidence, the lookalikes and the safety notes before you trust a name. “Unknown” is an honest answer.
  • Free: 5 identifications a day. Pro: 200 identifications a day. The count resets daily.

Journal

  • Save any identification, place or photo with a note.
  • Set a privacy level on each entry: no location, private, blurred (about 10 km), or exact.
  • Export as JSON, or tracks as GPX with Pro. With Pro sync on, the journal follows your account to your other devices.

Account and Pro

  • Account is optional. Sign in with email, Google or Apple on iPhone, iPad and Mac; email or Google on Android; email, Google or Microsoft on Windows.
  • Subscribe in the app on iPhone, iPad, Mac and Android. On Windows, choose Upgrade and finish on softflourish.com/naturewonders/account.
  • Restore: sign in with the same account and Pro unlocks automatically.
  • Free users on iPhone, iPad and Android see non-personalized ads (on Android, after Google's consent form where the law requires it). Mac, Windows and Pro have no ads.

Safety

Identification is probabilistic. Do not touch, taste, burn or prepare a plant or mushroom based on this app, and keep unknown ones away from children and pets. For suspected poisoning or a serious reaction, contact local emergency services or poison control now. Conditions change fast: check official alerts, carry the essentials, and turn back when in doubt.
