Opening a document

Open any PDF from your device, or scan a paper document with the camera — edge detection and auto-capture turn it into a clean PDF, and on-device OCR makes it fully searchable in the same step.

Reading and annotating

Highlight, draw with Apple Pencil, add notes and stamps. Drop in a saved signature and a date to sign a document in seconds — no printing, scanning, or emailing it elsewhere first.

Editing pages

Reorder, rotate, merge, split, crop, insert, and extract pages. Fill in forms, and add page numbers, headers, or Bates numbering for a document set that needs it.

Protecting and redacting

Password-protect a file and set what a viewer can do with it — print, copy, edit. Redaction removes the content underneath, not just a black box drawn over it, so a redacted page is actually gone from the file.

On-device AI

On Mac, iPhone, iPad, and supported Android phones you can summarize a document, ask questions about what it says, or translate it — all run by your device’s own AI (Apple Intelligence, or Google’s on-device models). Nothing about the document is sent anywhere to do this. Windows does not have the AI features yet.

Converting and exporting

Export pages as images, and create a PDF from photos and scans. Word, Excel, and PowerPoint export are not available yet — the features page shows what runs on which platform today. As with everything else, the conversion happens on your device.
